Chinese Fan Palm Grown for Interior
This palm, with its wide fan-like
leaves has been used throughout the centuries to make brooms and tiki huts as well as
other things. Its botanical name is Livistona
Chinesis. It reproduces bisexually, producing
both male and female flowers simultaneously. Its
seeds are bright red to dark purple. It
generally grows as a single trunk plant but is most elegant when grown with multiple
trunks of two or three. Growth rate is 10 to
24 inched per year.
Origin: Southern most part of Japan and The Ryukyu
